## Why Galley is the right book writing software for a novel in Uyghur

Uyghur in the Arabic script writes all its vowels, which is unusual for the
script and which makes coverage the whole question for a book face. ې, ۆ, ۈ, ۇ
and the initial hamza-carrier forms are all in ordinary running text rather than
in dictionaries and Qur’ans, so a face that treats them as optional produces a

## How Uyghur gets typeset

**Direction is a print decision.** The recto is the left-hand page, margins,
running heads and folios mirror with the gutter, and both exports declare
right-to-left page progression.

**Letters join, so headings do not letter-space.**

**There is no italic, no hyphenation and no kashida justification.** Set the book
ragged right.
